Lower Elementary Lead Teacher (1st-3rd Grade)Steamboat Montessori is a free public charter school striving to nurture each student’s intellectual curiosity through a prepared and peaceful Montessori environment. ELEMENTARY LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES-Develop and implement curriculum according to curriculum guidelines of the Montessori method, Steamboat Montessori, and the Colorado Academic Standards. (Montessori support and coaching embedded for traditionally trained or experienced teachers)-Engage in the teaching and learning cycle to adapt and meet the individual needs of students.-Demonstrate understanding of and ability to implement Montessori teaching strategies plus a broad repertoire of teaching strategies that honor varied needs of children.-Assess student performance frequently and objectively and implement an effective record keeping system of student progress in line with Montessori best practices and school-wide policies.-Prepare an environment in which materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the group; for maintaining a clear, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment, including the care and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment, and maintaining inventory of classroom materials.-Create an environment that demonstrates rapport with and respect and kindness for all students, as well as between students. The teacher will model and teach conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies in the classroom.-Facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents -Accept responsibility for the safety of the children left in their charge until dismissed to a responsible adult.-The teacher will participate in a regular evaluation process including classroom observations, feedback conferences, and an annual self-evaluation toward goals set by the teacher and / or in conjunction with the Head of School-Participate in professional development activities (both within the school community and via attendance at conferences, workshops, etc.)-Establish relationships and regularly communicates with parents of students and maintains regular communication with parents regarding their child’s progress-Provide for parent conferences, meetings and communication throughout the school year in accordance with school policy and procedures.-Participate in community outreach activitiesWhat we offer:Base salary: $40,000- $56,000 DOE and certificationOngoing professional developmentA network of supportive peers and mentors who regularly share best practicesComprehensive benefits package including PERAThe opportunity to contribute to a high-quality educational program that serves the individual needs of each childPrioritization of staff wellness and satisfactionContract Days (178)We’d Love to Talk To You If You Possess:-Experience and/or interest in a Montessori environment and with the Montessori philosophy-A Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university-Strength in science, mathematics and reading instruction-Strong organization skills-Ability to work independently and with a team-Excellent verbal and written communication skills-Excellent computer skills-Strong self-starter; able to work both with and without supervision-Ability to develop a strong connection with children and families-Effective time management and organizational skills -Entrepreneurial outlook and charter school commitmentPlease submit cover letter, resume, and a list of 3 references to Emily Barnhart, Head of School at ebarnhart@steamboatmontessori.org or call 970-879-6653 for more information.
